Polynesian multisport, 12 miles, great massage

Life remains heaven on the Garden Isle. Friday we had our own little multisport adventure, kayaking the Kailua river, hiking the jungle and swimming at the base of a 125 foot waterfall. Absolutely breathtaking, literally, the water was raging. FYI, my marathon girl and TRIKStee were perfect for the Polynesian Tri. Quick drying, hot, sexy and comfortable (although built in bug repellent would have been nice).
Yesterday was a rest day, I watched BJ surf (his first time) and I was quite impressed but certainly not surprised. He’s ‘the guy’ that picks everything up quickly and skillfully. I’m still trying to make it more than 3 feet in bodysurfing.
This morning we headed to Princeville for my 12 mile run which doubled as a spectacular sight seeing mission. BJ was my co-pilot, inspiration and coach - it was the longest 12 miles he had ever done (I’m about 1/2 as fast as him)….what a guy I have? He’s the best, the best of the best. We stopped at the Princeville Hotel for water reload and to drip sweat all over the marble floors of this beautiful 5 star resort. We were out of our league and it showed. But you know what? I don’t really like that league, I am so happy in the Cowgirl suite at the Surfboard House. Just got my butt kicked by Pete the massage therapist that Simon (our host) recommended, my body feels like a million bucks. I’m sitting on our patio and BJ is now getting his butt kicked by Pete. It’s been raining for the last few hours and it is such an organic experience to see just how this vibrant island gets its nourishment. The rain is so gentle here even when its heavy, its as if the delicate flowers and plants are being kissed by Mother Nature, it’s beautiful. Coming from Boulder where it is sunny every day, the rain is a welcomed visitor. Shortly we’ll be ready for Sushi happy hour at Sushi Blues. I wish I could just be a triathlete on permanent vacation; train, get a massage, happy hour….ditto each day after that.
